Formed in 2016 and made up of five stalwarts from Malaysia’s indie music enclave, The Propositions refuse to hit the ground at any pace other than full speed.

Our lineup: Ian Tai on vocals and guitar, Hilmy Amim on lead guitar and vocals, Dervin Frank on bass guitar, and Timothy Chua on drums. We're sometimes joined by singer-songwriter Brendan de Cruz on keyboards. 

We’ve played in Merdekarya, The Bee, the Gaslight KL, Garage Studio, as well as at ChinaHouse and Kim Haus in Penang.

From talking about the complexities of modern life, grappling with politics, to lamenting about lost youth, our music can be summed up in one word: brutally honest. (We cannot count.)

It’s surf-rock, rockabilly, polite punk, alt-rock, politirock, Malaysiana and folk rolled into one.
