You could use a "Victory".
Hey, so we've just uploaded our live performance of "Victory" from 11 July at Merdekarya, where we opened for the Azlan Ramli Quartet (or preferably Quintet, but mostly a Quartet?).
Check it out here:
The song was written about how incredibly unnecessary the year 2020 was in the world of Malaysian politics, when the so-called "Sheraton move" was made to wrest power away from the elected government of the time.
The irony is that the Sheraton in question wasn't even the brand-new (at the time) branch in Petaling Jaya. The renegade politicians half-assed their secret power play assembly by choosing the old hotel, and could have at least splurged on the fancier one like the kleptocrats they were/are.
All in all: it felt as if our votes didn't mean for much, save for an excuse to get onto the 'Gram. Hence, the song.
To give things a present day context, the wonderful part is that Muhyiddin Yassin is back, waiting in the wings. It's as if they can't get over themselves.
Will we ever break this chain? Time will tell. On the up side, the good fight remains to be fought.
